Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Banu Construction ("Banu," "we," "us") collects through this website, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We've kept it in plain English. If anything is unclear, ask us using the contact details at the end.
What you send us through the assessment form
When you request an assessment, we ask for:
- About the building: The address, the number of stories and, if you know it, the tax block number.
- About the situation: The boxes you tick (such as a FISP report with SWARMP items, an Unsafe filing or a sidewalk shed), any deadline you mention, and anything else you choose to write.
- About you: Your name, email address and phone number.
- Files you upload: For example a FISP report, a DOB violation or photos, up to five files.
We use this information to answer your request: to review your building's situation, contact you, arrange a site visit and prepare a proposal. If you hire us, we use it to run your project. We add you to a mailing list only if you ask us to.
Uploaded files are stored privately and aren't published anywhere. The people at Banu who need them to respond to you open them through time-limited links.
If you tell us something is urgent (for example, you tick "Unsafe" or "DOB violation"), we may also send our team a text-message alert about your request so we can respond faster.
The address field on the form suggests addresses as you type. To do that, your browser sends what you type to NYC Planning's public GeoSearch service, the same city service the deadline finder uses (see below).
When you call or email us
If you phone or email us, we receive your phone number or email address and whatever you tell us. We use it to respond and, if you hire us, to run your project.
Information collected automatically
As with most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you request. That information is used to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how people use the site: which pages they visit, which buttons they click, and whether a form was submitted. It loads only after you agree to it in the cookie banner. We may also use Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors scroll and click through pages (session recordings) so we can find and fix problems. Clarity also runs only with your consent, and it's set to hide anything you type into form fields.
These tools tell us things like "someone clicked the phone number," "a form was submitted about a sidewalk shed" or "someone used the deadline finder for sub-cycle 10B." They never receive your name, email, phone number or message, the files you upload, or any address you type into the deadline finder.
Cookies and your consent choice
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use:
- Necessary cookies or similar storage, for example to remember your consent choice and to protect our form from spam. The site needs these to work properly.
- Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics and, if used, Microsoft Clarity, only if you accept them.
You can accept or decline analytics in the cookie banner. To change your mind later, use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, or clear this site's cookies and site data in your browser and the banner will come back. You can also block cookies in your browser settings. If you decline analytics, the site still works.
The FISP deadline finder
The deadline finder looks up your FISP sub-cycle. If you enter a block number, the calculation happens in your browser. If you enter an address, your browser sends it straight to NYC Planning's public GeoSearch service to find the building's tax lot and building ID. Your browser then sends that building ID to NYC Open Data to look up the building's latest FISP filing on record. Banu doesn't receive or store the address you enter. Those city services have their own privacy policies.
If you've accepted analytics, we record that the tool was used and which sub-cycle it showed. The address and block number are never recorded.
Service providers who help us
We use outside companies to run the website and handle your request. They process information on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- a website hosting provider
- a form-handling service and private file storage for uploads
- email and text-message services that deliver requests and alerts to our team
- a customer relationship management (CRM) system where we keep track of requests and projects
- a spam-protection service that checks form submissions come from a person
- the analytics providers described above, if you consent
We may also share information with professionals working on your project (for example, your engineer, architect or QEWI) with your knowledge, or where the law requires it.
We don't sell your personal information
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your request, the files you send and our correspondence for as long as we need them to respond to you and, if you hire us, to carry out and document the work. We also keep records for as long as legal, tax and insurance obligations require. Once we no longer need information, we delete it or strip out the details that identify you.
How we protect it
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Uploaded files sit in private storage and are reached through time-limited links. Only people who need your information to respond to you or work on your project can access it. No website or storage system is completely secure, so please don't send us passwords, bank details or other sensitive information we haven't asked for.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We'll respond within a reasonable time. We may need to keep some records, such as those tied to a contract we've signed with you or those the law requires us to keep.
Children
This website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to other sites, including NYC agencies, NYC Open Data, Google Maps (from our contact page) and the published sources we cite. Those sites are outside our control, and this policy doesn't cover them. Check their privacy policies before you share information with them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. We'll note significant changes on this page.
